Sweetheart, the last thing I would do is to leave you in financial straights.
The one thing I regret about our three years together is that I took you away
from a promising and fulfilling career path. I am very glad you have found
another one. Your job inevitably brings up the question of our parting ways.
I'm sorry about this. I'm unhappy with what I have wrought, decisions I have
made or neglected to make. I have never found my place in the socio-economic
world, except paradoxically the two years I worked at the Farfalla in a complete
socio-economic void. The best job I have ever had is at the Seattle Tennis
Club, so I can go back there in a few months. The Rainier Club is obviously
not working out, split shifts six days a week to earn four hundred dollars.
I have applied for a couple of other jobs. If I got hired by Berlitz, I would
probably spend a month or two training at the Seattle office. Assuming I went
to Germany, I could indeed send home money in a very stable currency. I hope
you trust me to do this. I love you.
