From: SAGReiss Date: 29 September 2009 Subject: Vocative Nichelle: Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta countdown: 5 days. SAGReiss: Nichelle, Rose & I will blow up a few balloons this week-end in honor of your spirit. Joy taught me how to write that sentence. It means more because ambiguity gives it two distinct meanings: - Nichelle [nominative], Rose & I will blow up a few balloons this week-end in honor of your [the reader's] spirit. - Nichelle [vocative], Rose & I will blow up a few balloons this week-end in honor of your [Nichelle's] spirit. 8 October 2009 SAGReiss: The face of the ancient Goddess of poetry & song. From: SAGReiss Date: 28 November 2009 Subject: You've Got Mail I dreamt I received e-mail, three
verses of unsigned doggerel. The message headers were all blank. As I
clicked around trying to find the sender, the verses expanded as in a
javascript menu. The message overflowed into a
calligram of hidden
stanzas. Reassured, I rolled over and went back to sleep, knowing that
only Nichelle could ever have composed such a text. |
